Special NOTE: Please take care to maintain and clean the sponge regularly as the clogging up of the sponge will do exactly the opposite to what you want to achieve. The lack of maintenance will shorten your pumps lifespan.
It is sometimes advisable to take your sponge out completely if there is a high clog risk, and only use it as a large pre strainer for your pump.
